In the late 1980s, Greg wrote the soundtracks for two video projects. Both projects were for Ast*Sothis Productions, a company owned by Greg's good friend, deTraci Regula. Greg performed these soundtracks on analog equipment. MIDI had just recently been invented, and Greg had to work with more traditional tools, including the Korg Poly61, the Yamaha CS-5, a 'no-name' six-string electric guitar, a Kay electric / acoustic mandolin, an early model drum machine (maker now forgotten), and various effects pedals (chorus, echo, octavizer). All were recorded using a Fostex X-15, the first portable cassette four-track recording studio ever made.

is deTraci's new company. She's
out and about town with her video equipment, recording
more visual inspiration for Greg's soundtracks.
In 1988, Greg wrote and recorded the soundtrack for the instructional video The Sensual Secrets of Touch, a project developed by Ast*Sothis Productions and Kathy Hargrove, RN. This video was an early foray into the now common practice of combining conventional medicine with the non-traditional use of massage as a healing tool. The second Ast*Sothis project came in 1989. This time, the soundtrack was for Flying With The Chyron, an instructional video especially for members of the TV/Video industry. The most recent project is a travel / advertisement video documenting DeTraci's journey around the island of Crete in a Kayak. The company that provides this service commissioned the documentary. Greg is also the sound engineer on two other documentary projects. © Copyright 2002 - 2008 Greg Amov. All rights reserved. |
